Three days, two regions, and a journey carved in marble and poured in wine.
Join me for an unconventional trek through the “white heart” of Italy—the most rebellious and un-Tuscan province of all!
Our adventure begins in the rugged Apuan Alps, where the raw mountain meets human artistry. You will witness where marble truly originates, visiting historic workshops and “natural cathedrals” to see how this noble stone has shaped the region — not only in sculptures and architecture, but even in wine (and in the very soul of the people!). We’ll toast to this heritage with “marbleous” local cuisine and heroic wines born from the mineral-rich earth.
This is what our itinerary could look like:
📅 Day 1 — Full day: Carrara, its marble natural cathedrals, and surroundings
Morning: Arrival and welcome in Carrara — an introduction to its marble and its people.
Mid-morning: Visit to a historic, iconic marble company — workshop and showroom
Lunch @ Extra marbleous restaurant featuring Apuan wines and cuisine.
Afternoon: Visit to a local winery with tasting (option to purchase wines and PDO products)
Dinner: By the sea, on the border between Tuscany and Liguria, discovering the culinary transition between the two regions.
📅 Day 2 — Ligurian Coast: Ancient Luni, Porto Venere & Cinque Terre Morning:
Visit to the ancient Roman town of Luni
Late morning: Porto Venere and the "mourning quarries" immortalized by D'Annunzio
Lunch: On site in Porto Venere
Afternoon & Evening: Cinque Terre — winery visit in Volastra; Mini-trekking to Corniolo among vineyards suspended over the sea, with tasting of Cinque Terre wines at sunset on the hillside (weather permitting).
End of day: Visit to a producer in La Spezia
📅 Day 3 — Soulful Wine Tasting at the Sommelier's Home (rest of the day fully customizable)
Welcome to Nadia's home — passionate sommelier and guardian of Apuan flavors

Guided tasting of 3 wines paired with traditional small plates
Beyond taste: the cultural, emotional, and spiritual dimension of wine
Conclusion of experience.
